The game was released in 2007 for Microsoft Windows and Xbox 360 platforms. IG Fun developed a scaled-down mobile version. Ken Levine, who is Irrational’s creative lead developed the concept of the game. Bioshock is considered a spiritual successor to the System Shock series.
The game is set in 1960. Jack is the protagonist of the game guided by the players. Jack’s airplane crashes in the ocean and leads to the underwater city of Rapture that was intended to be an isolated utopia. The protagonist of the game is trying to find a way to escape and is fighting enemies and can defeat foes in many ways using different weapons. Elements of role-playing games are included in this game and the player is provided with different approaches in engaging enemies.
