House of Cards is a political thriller web TV series. This series is created by Beau Willimon and is based on a novel written by Michael Dobbs. House of Cards is an adaption of the 1990 BBC miniseries of the same title. The first season of this series which includes 13 episodes and with an approval rating of 86%, was released on February 1, 2013, on Netflix.
This series is set in Washington, D.C. and it tells the story of a congressman named Frank Underwood. This congressman is a Democrat from South Carolina’s 5th congressional district. This democrat congressman is passed over for appointment as Secretary of State and his wife Claire Underwood helps him to attain power. Betrayal, manipulation, and power are the main themes of this series.
This series received generally positive reviews and different nominations for Emmy and Golden Globe Awards. In 2017, Netflix has announced that the sixth season will be the last season of this series. The sixth season including eight episodes with an approval rating of 69% was released on November 2, 2018.
