StarCraft, created by Chris Metzen and James Phinney is a military science fiction media franchise. This franchise is owned by Blizzard Entertainment. StarCraft is set at the beginning of the 26th century.
The focus in this series is on the struggles for dominance among 4 species. In 1998 the series debuted with the video game StarCraft and then it was grown to include board games, novelizations, and other merchandise such as toys.
Planning for StarCraft started in 1995 by Blizzard Entertainment and the team was led by Metzen and Phinney. A modified Warcraft II game engine was used for the game and the game could introduce a high quality integral to the storyline of the franchise. The development of the game started after the StarCraft was released.
The development of the StarCraft: Ghost that is a Stealth-action game in 2001 and then the work on the game was postponed. The original StarCraft game and its expansions have been praised and the series could gather a solid following around the world. In 2006, this game series was awarded a star on the Walk of Game and by 2007 the series sold more than 10 million copies.
