Frankenweenie is both a parody of and homage to the 1931 film Frankenstein. The voice cast includes Martin Short, Catherine O’Hara, Charlie Tahan, Winona Ryder, and Atticus Shaffer. The screenplay is written by John August and the plot is about a boy named Vector. Vector’s dog is hit by a car and now Vector wants to bring his dog back to life by the power of electricity.
After his dog is back Vector has to convince everyone that despite his appearance, it is still the same loyal friend he had. This film was the first black and white feature-length film that was released in IMAX 3D. This film was released on October 5, 2012, and it received positive reviews and it has a moderate box office sale.
This film received an approval rating of 87% on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes and on Metacritic, it is scored 74 out of 100. The film grossed more than $81 worldwide. Frankenweenie was nominated font an Oscar, Golden Globe, and BAFTA and it won the Saturn Award for Best Animated Film.
