Adidas, founded and headquartered in Herzogenaurach, Germany, is a multinational corporation designing shoes, clothes, and accessories. Adidas is the largest sportswear manufacturer in Europe, and after Nike, which is an American multinational company, it is the second-largest in the world.
Adidas group consists of the Reebok sportswear company, 8.33% of the Bayern Munich that is a German football club, TaylorMade Golf Company, and Runtastic that is an Australian mobile fitness company. Revenue for Adidas in 2018 was listed at €21.915 billion. Adolf Dassler was the founder of this company and then in 1924 his elder brother joined him and they worked under the name Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory.
Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory assisted in the development of running shoes for multiple athletic events. for the 1936 Summer Olympics, Dassler could persuade U.S. sprinter Jesse Owens to use his handmade spikes. After a breakdown in the relation between the two brothers, Adidas was created by Adolf and the other brother established Puma, which designs and manufactures athletic and casual footwear, and they became business rivals.
Adidas’ logo which is used on the company’s clothing and shoe designs is three stripes. The logo is used as a marketing aid. This branding that was bought by Adidas in 1952 from Karhu Sports, a Finnish sports company became so successful.
