Barry is an American Drama film that takes an ingesting look at the early life of Barak Obama when he was at Columbia University in 1981. This drama movie is directed by Vikram Gandhi.
It was announced in March 2016 that a film based on a screenplay by Adam Mansbach will be produced. Among the stars of the film, we can refer to Devon Terrell playing the young Barak Obama, Anya Taylor-Joy, Jason Mitchell, Ashley Judd, Ellar Coltrane, Avi Nash, Jenna Elfman, and Linus Roache. Barry was released on December 16, 2016, On Netflix. This film could hold an 80% approval rating and received positive critics.
Obama’s young college days are shown in the movie. This mixed-raced man who has been one of the few black students at university is being terrorized with racist opinions. This young man who will one day become the president of the US is trying to find his place in the early 1980s in New York. The film is also the story of Obama’s personality and disapproving views that he has of his mother and the conflicted feeling that he is facing because of the absent of his father.
What Barry most captures is struggling to find his identity. This marvelous movie is a well observed and sharp picture that is not just the story of a president’s life but also it can be an examination of how race is not always the major thing that divides us.
