Jessica Jones is a web television series created by Melissa Rosenberg for Netflix. This series is based on the Marvel Comics. This series is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and shares continuity with the films of the franchise. Jessica Jones is produced by Marvel Television and stars Krysten Ritter, Rachael Taylor, and Eka Darville.
The plot revolves around a former superhero named Jessica Jones, opening her own detective agency and she wants to rise against a villain, Kilgrave. In the second season Jessica finds out about her mother being alive and in the third season, she has to face an enemy that wants to prove Jessica is a fraud. A version of this series was developed by Rosenberg in 2010 or ABC but then it was reworked for Netflix.
The filming for this series took place in New York City. The first season premiered in 2015 received critical acclaim after being released. The tone, performances, and the depiction of the topics were praised by the critics. The Rotten Tomatoes website reported a 94% approval rating for this season.
Filming for the second season began in 2017 and it was concluded in 2018 and received an approval rating of 82% on the Rotten Tomatoes. The third season was released in 2019 and holds an approval rating of 73% on the website Rotten Tomatoes. By Netflix canceling the series, the third season was the last.
